This is a little painting I did last week - it is a study of some of the lessons we learned in the Carol Carter worksop I took in Portland at the end of March - I think I am beginning to understand some of what she was talking about, but progress is slow, it seems to be measured by every fifth painting, not every painting. Learning, trying to impose my vision does not come easy. I wish I had the days to work on it, but for now I paint after work, between cooking and dishes. I paint on the weekends, all day both days if I can get away with it. Luckily my husband works a lot of weekends. Sometimes I sneak into my art room and paint a tad before trudging off to work in the wee hours of the weekday mornings. I am obsessed again.
I have tried to use some colors that I had not been used to – carmine or perm rose is a lively beautiful color that I will use again, am also using some cad yellow, but I just can’t stay away from quin gold for my fav yellow choice.
Last night I sketched out some gladiolus – it is coming along nicely but it will sit today and I can check the composition and make corrections tonight, maybe start painting it on Thursday. It will be ½ sheet –
More later -
